The Green City

London is officially a forest city. According to the United Nations a forest is anywhere made up of at least twenty per cent trees, and London exceeds that. The importance of the great variety of parks, greens, commons, heathlands, marshes, woods and forests that are dotted all over the capital cannot be underestimated, and are crucial to the physical, mental and spirtual well being of Londoners and visitors alike. I am fortunate to live fairly close to Epping Forest, Hampstead Heath, Highgate and Queen's Woods and the Walthamstow Wetlands and marshes, and get endless photographic inspiration from my frequent visits to one or other of these wonderful green spaces. Revisiting local areas in all seasons and weathers is an important aspect in the development and evolution of my photography and shows that you don't have to travel far to find amazing subjects and make great images.
